Rev'd Thom is a native of Maine, having grown up in Caribou in Aroostook County. He came to Christ through the ministry of Gray Memorial UMC and its youth group, as well as the ministry of Camp Mechuwana. His Master of Divinity degree is from Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey, and he holds a Ph.D. from Emory University where he studied with Dr. Fred B. In 1993 he moved to John Street UMC in Camden, Maine (Maine's first reconciling congregation), and five years later to Grant Memorial UMC in Presque Isle. He has been the pastor of Green Street since 2006. He teaches part time at Bangor Theological Seminary, both on the Portland and Bangor campuses. He has written religious columns for the Bangor Daily News, the Kennebec Journal, and The Font.
