About the Rev. Thomas L. Blackstone:
Rev'd Thom is a native of Maine, having grown up in Caribou in Aroostook County. He came to Christ through the ministry of Gray Memorial UMC and its youth group, as well as the ministry of Camp Mechuwana. Having felt the call to ordained ministry in high school, he graduated from Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania with a BA in Religion. His Master of Divinity degree is from Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey, and he holds a Ph.D. from Emory University where he studied with Dr. Fred B. Craddock in the areas of New Testament and Preaching.
All of the churches Rev'd Thom has served as pastor have been in Maine. In 1991 he began serving the Boothbay Harbor and East Boothbay Churches. In 1993 he moved to John Street UMC in Camden, Maine (Maine's first reconciling congregation), and five years later to Grant Memorial UMC in Presque Isle. He has been the pastor of Green Street since 2006. He teaches part time at Bangor Theological Seminary, both on the Portland and Bangor campuses. He has written religious columns for the Bangor Daily News, the Kennebec Journal, and The Font.
He is married with three children, and his favorite spots are Weston Priory in Vermont, Camp Mechuwana in Winthrop, Maine, and a family cabin in Washington County, Maine. He is a professed brother of the Order of Saint Luke , and maintains a blog. In his down time, he is a fan of TV shows House, Northern Exposure and The West Wing.
